optionalChopped nuts (such as walnuts or pecans) for added crunch
Instructions
In a microwave-safe mug, add the mashed banana and use a fork to mix it thoroughly until smooth, ensuring there are no lumps.
To the mug, add the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and pinch of salt. Stir gently until the mixture is just combined, being careful not to overmix.
Gradually pour in the milk, followed by the vegetable oil and vanilla extract. Mix until the batter becomes smooth and homogeneous, with no dry flour visible.
Gently fold in the chocolate chips and, if you like, the chopped nuts to add an extra layer of texture and flavor.
Place the mug in the microwave and cook on high for 1 minute and 30 seconds, carefully monitoring it after 1 minute to prevent overcooking. The cake should rise well and feel set to the touch in the center.
Once cooked, let the mug cake cool for about one minute to allow it to firm up slightly. For an indulgent finish, sprinkle a few extra chocolate chips on top or add a dollop of whipped cream.
Notes
Consider serving the mug cake directly in the mug for a rustic look, or transfer it onto a small plate if you want to display it nicely. A dusting of powdered sugar or a drizzle of chocolate syrup can also elevate its presentation!
